On 16 October 2001, Kabarak University was granted a Letter of Interim Authority by the Government of Kenya through the Commission for Higher Education, allowing it to award degrees. It was then founded in September 2002. The university was awarded the Charter on 16 May, 2008, making it a fully-fledged accredited university. The University currently has over 3500 students pursuing various academic courses. Kabarak University is located 20 km from Nakuru Town.
