Pwani University is located 60 Km north of Mombasa City in the resort town of Kilifi near to the Kilifi Bay along the busy Mombasa-Malindi highway, within the larger Kilifi County. Prior to the award of a Charter, the University was a Constituent College of Kenyatta University. The College formerly the Kilifi Institute of Agriculture was established on 23rd August 2007 by a signed Presidential order and it admitted its first degree students on the 29th October 2007. Currently, the University has over 4000 students taking courses in various undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes and the number is expected to grow to over 6000 students in the academic year 2013/2014.
